Perry Reid is an Indianapolis based trumpet player and music educator. Perry enjoys playing in lead/jazz as well as classical styles in the Indianapolis music scene.
After attending Carmel high school Perry attended Butler University in Indianapolis. Perry played with the Butler University wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, and symphony orchestra. Perry studied with ISO trumpeter Allen Miller while attending Butler. In addition to a full course load Perry performed with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2008-2009, and joined the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps 2010-2012. Perry was honored to represent the Blue Devils on two international trips to Malaysia and Guatemala, and to be a featured soloist/lead player in the 2012 production. The Blue Devils won undefeated World Championships in 2010 and 2012 while Perry was a member.
As an active music educator Perry currently teaches marching bands throughout Central Indiana. Perry has taught with Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, Ben Davis, and Hamilton Southeastern schools since 2010.
Perry began teaching private lessons through the Butler Community Arts School in 2008, teaching grades 5-12. Perry currently teaches trumpet at Franklin Central, Hamilton Southeastern, and Ben Davis high schools.
As a freelance trumpet player Perry enjoys playing weddings, big bands, show choir, musicals, ballet, orchestral and church gigs in central Indiana. Perry currently plays with the Heartland Big Band, BobDirex Musicals, Franklin Central Show Choirs, Carmel Show Choirs and has performed with the Kokomo Symphony and the Butler Ballet Orchestra.
Perry is proud to play on Fred Powell Bb and C trumpets, and currently plays on GR and Karl Hammond Design mouthpieces.
